Billet SR20 block FAQ
Is it a drop-in replacement for the factory SR20 block?
Yes. It's based on the S15 RWD SR20 and keeps the factory bolt-up, so it goes in where the stock block came out.
Does it keep the stock oil pump?
Yes. It uses the factory crank-driven front-cover oil pump. You don't need an external oil pump.
Does it use the stock oil filter and pan?
Yes. It has the stock spin-on filter boss, the stock dipstick and the OEM wet-sump pan. There's no remote filter kit.
Does it keep the stock water pump?
Yes. The factory water pump bolts straight on.
Do I need to re-drill my head?
No. It keeps the OEM M11 head bolt pattern, with steel thread inserts.
Is it open deck or closed deck?
Closed deck. The deck is welded closed, then the whole block is heat-treated back to T6. There's no water in the land between the bores. The jackets wrap the valley and the outboard sides.
What material is it?
Machined from 6061-T6 aluminium, with ductile iron sleeves fitted after heat treatment.
Which SR20 does it suit?
The RWD SR20, using the S15 as the reference. It doesn't suit FWD or GTi-R blocks.
Where is it made?
It's designed in Australia by Bluey Technology and Design in Adelaide, SA.
How much is it?
